Fotografia do teatro São José, provavelmente do início do século 20. O teatro foi tombado como patrimônio histórico-cultural de Piracicaba por meio do Decreto Municipal n. 9.766/2002.
O teatro foi construído em 1927 pelo senhor de terras Coronel José Barbosa Ferraz e foi inaugurado no dia 11 de julho daquele ano (o Coronel Barbosa construiu, também, o Clube Piracicabano, que passou, após a sua morte, a chamar-se Clube Coronel Barbosa).
