O júri, por unanimidade de votos, respondeu que o réu Joaquim havia matado Job e que ele era um escravizado de Fernando Paes de Barros. Mas, por 9 votos, definiu que ele não havia cometido o delito por motivo frívolo. Sem unanimidade, todas as outras perguntas foram respondidas como “sim”: Que havia superioridade de força e armas e que havia circunstancia atenuantes em favor do réu – as dos §§1º e 6º.
